“The List” TV Show with Phoenix Top Matchmaker Roseann Higgins for Valentine’s Day Tips

After pulling an all-nighter in preparation for this Wednesday’s SPIES offices site visit by our small business mentors at APS/AAAME, I noticed a 7:40 am email this morning from a reporter with the 6-city Scripps TV newsmagazine show called “The List.” Sleep would need to be delayed.

Would I be available for a Valentine’s Day interview…TODAY? After fast emails back and forth, I set the alarm for 3 hours of sleep, interviewed a very eligible single new client and then sat down for a fun, fast interview – because that’s the way The List rolls.

Phoenix, Arizona matchmaker Roseann Higgins behind the scenes shot on "The List" TV newsmagazine Valentine’s Day story about making the one you love feel loved.

This is our first TV exposure outside of Arizona. It’s exciting! The good thing is – this is their second time interviewing me for a dating story. It means they liked what they saw the first time or they wouldn’t have come back, the reporter kindly told me. Oh? That just makes my day! The List will air the first interview about what men and women want in a date when they need it. But the Valentine’s Day interview airs today! (Tuesday, Feb 5)

Tune in to “The List” today on these 6 stations and counting in the Scripps network:

WCPO logo Cincinnati 7:00pm

When all America has to compare matchmakers to are reality television dating shows that seem to have a batting average in long term relationships lower than Major League Baseball’s worst player (.197), it’s time the world knows a wickedly good matchmaker exists. Even if I’m not matchmaking for a television show, that’s okay. We’re private about who we work with. The single men and women who hire us for the most part are not looking to have their private dating lives on national television. I do however predict SPIES is about to become a 19-year overnight sensation in finding happily ever afters. We have proof of concept, now.

I hope you’ll tune in to The List and if you have friends who are single in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Baltimore, Tampa, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Tulsa, please pass this along. Maybe they can catch the show! And maybe they’ll want to learn more about how we can help them find love.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
With love always,
from SPIES Single Professional Introductions (for the) Especially Selective, LLC headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.

Roseann Higgins
PS You won’t find exactly what they asked in the interview because we won’t steal their thunder. But we will post a link to the video after it airs. Thanks Scripps and everyone at The List!

CBS Survivor Delivers Not Only $1,000,000 but a Recipe of True Love

Ask Roseann – the most Wickedly Good Matchmaker on the Planet!

Cast member Tarzan and wife Terri’s true love is what will be remembered by Survivor fans this season, not who won the million dollars.

If you want to believe in love, last night’s Survivor Reunion show brought it!

This season’s loved ones visit to Survivor Island took the cast and the world by surprise when the most annoying remaining cast member Tarzan (plastic surgeon Greg Smith) was reunited with his wife.  Not one shy of dramatics this season, Tarzan knelt on one knee when it was his turn to wait for his loved one.  His wife of 30 years comes running out of the jungle and into his awaiting arms.  It was a scene from a romance novel.  As a matchmaker who wants everyone in the world to find this kind of true love, I am thankful to CBS for making a big deal out of it.

If you watched this season, Tarzan made it a point to annoy.  You got tired of vocabulary-man’s overuse of big words, even in your living room.  That was his strategy to get to the finals.  If no one liked him, he might make it to the finals because he wouldn’t be a threat to win the million dollars in a fellow cast (off) member vote!  But Tarzan, who said he’s been called Tarzan since age 8, had the romantic moment of the season.  It will be remembered more than who won the million dollars.  I think, anyway. :)    (Kind of reminds you of Renee Russo’s speech in Tin Cup…”Roy, no one will remember who won, but they’ll remember your 15 shot hole-in-one!” or something like that)

Here’s last night’s loving cutaway scene of the season from the Reunion show (after awarding one million dollars to Kim Spradlin):

"You take him away, I'm lost," Terri hugs her husband, CBS Survivor cast member Tarzan on the loved ones visit. This is the kind of love that gives us all life. Even if you have to trace it back to your grandparents or beyond, real love and commitment are in our bloodline.

“You take him away, I’m lost,” Terri Smith tearfully revealed to host Jeff Probst and the world watching.

“What is the secret to this magical love affair?” Probst probed.

“We have care, respect and responsibility. And we cannot lie to each other,” Terri Smith replied immediately, shaking her head in a ‘no, we don’t do that’ on the lie part.

Do you wish your relationship was that strong?  What Tarzan and Terri teach us is that they made a pact from the beginning of their marriage.  They’ve been married 30 years and they can’t live without each other!  That’s Hollywood material.

They have a strong love.  The way she recited the motto from memory was how some employees and CEOs recite corporate values for the most successful companies.  Stay tuned for that blog post.

I find when I introduce or meet couples who have the strongest relationships, they put the other person first!  They make a commitment.  Each one of them is dedicated to honoring their commitments.  When they honor their commitment to love and support each other and ask, as my friend Steve Hardison asks his wife every day, “What can I do for you?,” they have the strongest marriages.

QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER IN LOVE

What do you commit to in your relationship with the one you love?  Or what do you commit to being when you fall in love again?  Perhaps it’s time to think about that.

Tarzan and Terri, and likely, your grandparents and great-grandparents, are role models for everyone who wants to believe in true love and commitment.

No matter how much faster society is moving today than it did in the days our grandparents fell in love, marriage has become an easier ceremony to say “I do” in because divorce is a more acceptable solution when things get rough – than it used to be.

If we could get everyone to choose better before they marry and to make a tangible commitment like our grandparents did, I think we could do it!   –Matchmaker Roseann Higgins

We could live in a world of happily ever afters again.  No matter how easy a divorce is, they HURT!  They hurt both of you, those who love you and those who work with you.  There’s a ripple.  I wrote about the divorce ripple and the importance of selecting the right one and waiting for the magic in answer to ABC TV-15′s question:  Is there such a thing as finding the one?

I spent considerable time drafting the response because I figure a TV station’s website is eternal:)   Plus, I’m a slow writer and almost as much of a perfectionist at writing in a way to convey my thoughts right and to be hopefully be helpful to at least one reader as I am at matchmaking every single person with someone as close as I can come to their forever love.  You’ll find an update to that post on this website someday soon, in between making matches and going to events to find matches.

Chelsea, one of the three Survivor finalists, shared Tarzan and Terri’s love gave her hope!  Thank you Survivor, the Smiths and everyone else who works hard at their relationships and cherishes the one they love every day.  Maybe that’s you.

Tarzan and Terri and all who have that forever love inspire tomorrow’s musical tribute:

“Where have you been?” is performed by Kathy Mattea.  It is about a couple that never spent a night apart until they were in the hospital as patients on separate floors.

3 Good excuses to kiss: A Supermoon, a Full Moon, or any Moon Will Do

3 Good Excuses to Kiss (like you need an excuse?):  A Supermoon, a Full Moon, or any Moon Will Do encourages Phoenix Matchmaker Roseann Higgins

Tonight’s SUPERMOON is the biggest moon of 2012. Plus, per Space.com Managing Editor Tariq Malic (Twitter @tariqmalik), there’s a bonus meteor shower from Halley’s Comet, too! So, grab your guy or your girl and celebrate under the stars! If you’re with the right person, you won’t need conversation. You can both sit there, hold each other or lie on a blanket, the balcony, the roof, sit in your hard adirondack chairs or your porch swing and look up. And talk about anything. There’s something about the quiet that forces you to slow down all the activity and celebrate the moments. The night does that.

Supermoon from SPIES matchmaking headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Wouldn’t you love to see the view from the aircraft that made those contrails?!

WATCH A VIDEO ON THE SUPERMOON:

Dr. James Garvin, chief scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, answered questions regarding the supermoon and there is a cool video about full moons on the NASA website here!

If you aren’t with someone where you can enjoy the most simple things in life, you might not be with the right one. Unless you don’t like the simple things, either! Then you could be the perfect fit. Continue Reading →

ARIZONA FOOTHILLS MAGAZINE

Roseann Higgins knows that one plus one doesn’t always equal two, at least not when it comes to affairs of the heart. The self-proclaimed “romance headhunter” founded her company, SPIES (Single Professional Introductions for the Especially Selective) in 1994 after realizing that a serious shortage in the matchmaking business existed, particularly for well-heeled, “picky people.”

Higgins’s home is her office—there’s no receptionist or impersonal waiting area. An interview feels much more like hanging out at a gal pal’s house before a Friday night on the town, and that’s just how it should be, says Higgins. “I’m not trying to hard sell you,” she says. “It’s not, ‘I want you to get comfortable.’ I just want to know your playful and serious sides, how you react to things.”

Higgins asks potential clients to fill out a detailed four-page profile and provide five to 10 real-life (no glamour shots allowed) photos.
