The ROOF
Sunstate Mechanical came out and brought
twenty guys the first day of the project...November 9th, 2002.
They swept and shoveled out dozens of bags full of pigeon
excrement, eggs, dead pigeons and nests. Then they power washed
all the roofs. They also cleaned the AC units for all 30
apartments, the pre-school and the offices and donated AC filters
for all of them. They repaired AC drain pipes, too. High grade
roof sealant and long rollers were donated by La Polla Industries.
Friends of mine, including Bill Bart's guys from Sunstate
Mechanical, rolled on all the new roof sealant two weeks later
when the roofs had dried. RPM Tree Services came over and hoisted
the 55 lb drums up on the roofs for us. This project removed tons
of viruses found in pigeon poop that would prevent most
contractors from even going up on a roof to look at air
conditioning units, per Bill Bart. The units will be cooler in the
summer. And we sealed many possible leaks in time to prevent leaks
during the heavy rains. |
