The FLOORS
The first floor carpets were moldy and filthy, so Billie Paulson asked if we could remove the carpeting and paint the floors. It will be easier to keep clean and perhaps brighter. ICI Paints donated the muriatic acid and two-part epoxy so we could do the 26 apartments. The toughest job we had was not pulling up the carpet. It was steel scraping the glue off the floors! Our youngest volunteer was an eight-year-old boy who came every weekend with his mother. He'd ask her to come! And he did a really good job. ...so did she!!
