3 Good excuses to kiss: A Supermoon, a Full Moon, or any Moon Will Do

3 Good Excuses to Kiss (like you need an excuse?):  A Supermoon, a Full Moon, or any Moon Will Do encourages Phoenix Matchmaker Roseann Higgins

Tonight’s SUPERMOON is the biggest moon of 2012. Plus, per Space.com Managing Editor Tariq Malic (Twitter @tariqmalik), there’s a bonus meteor shower from Halley’s Comet, too! So, grab your guy or your girl and celebrate under the stars! If you’re with the right person, you won’t need conversation. You can both sit there, hold each other or lie on a blanket, the balcony, the roof, sit in your hard adirondack chairs or your porch swing and look up. And talk about anything. There’s something about the quiet that forces you to slow down all the activity and celebrate the moments. The night does that.

Supermoon from SPIES matchmaking headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Wouldn’t you love to see the view from the aircraft that made those contrails?!

Dr. James Garvin, chief scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, answered questions regarding the supermoon and there is a cool video about full moons on the NASA website here!

If you aren’t with someone where you can enjoy the most simple things in life, you might not be with the right one. Unless you don’t like the simple things, either! Then you could be the perfect fit.

Being with the wrong one is taking minutes, days, years away from your life that you never get back. Have you ever had an awful date? And while they looked good, the full moon is not where you want to be alone with them? I have. I thought I had a soulmate, once. And now that I know what it looks like, I will wait for that feeling again. And tonight, I’m going out to look at my moon, with the prayer that he’s out there, looking at it, too, for me and for anyone who is looking for the soulmate. And if you’re single, I can promise you, God made someone special for you and they are out there. I keep finding soulmates. Every time I do, they are a rarity. And they were worth the wait and the clarity of knowing who you are and what you want. And the bad dates with Mr. and Miss Wrongs that got you there! Your moons together await.

I hope you enjoy the moon and the stars and each other.

There are 12.37 complete sets of moon phases in 365.25 days. If you have a smart phone, the sky is more fun than ever! The app store is full of possibilities that allow you to hold your phone up to the sky and identify constellations, planets and moon phases. Maybe I’m a geek from a small town, but I like being able to do something simple like that. It makes me smile. Try it. Post what you see on your own Facebook page, and here if you like! I hope you’re having fun.

It’s supermoon time right now! Get out the howl at the moon music, the bottle of bubbly or whatever, and enjoy the night.

If you’re single, when you look up, your special someone could be somewhere on earth looking up, too!

Find the exact time for the moonrise in your location in Old Farmer’s Alamanac. Beware, the site had pop-up ads both times I clicked in: http://www.almanac.com/moon. If you find a non-spam site that’s better for moon phases on the internet, please share it in the comments. Maybe you made memories under a favorite moon? The moon will move you, if you let it.
